The Mechanics bring the kind of energy that makes standing politely at the back increasingly difficult. A brilliantly lively roaming band, they move through the crowd with acoustic instruments, rich harmonies and plenty of personality, putting their own folk-inspired spin on rock, pop and indie favourites. Expect everything from Mumford & Sons and George Ezra to The Killers and Van Morrison, and don’t be surprised if you find yourself joining in.
Oxfordshire singer-songwriter Andy Hoger brings a more laid-back feel to the orchard, blending his own music with well-loved classics. His is the sort of set that goes particularly well with a cider in hand, good company and nowhere else you need to be.
Then there are The So & So’s, serving up a lively mix of blues, rock, country, reggae and whatever else they decide to throw into the pot. They’re brilliant musicians with plenty of feel-good energy and exactly the right amount of unpredictability, which makes them very well suited to an evening at Hitchcox.
